Emma is a licensed therapist (SEX THERAPY COUNTS OKAY no seriously this is canon) and she's her universe's most perceptive telepath, so she is really really good at figuring out what's truly bothering people. Whether she uses this for good or evil depends greatly on canon point and whether she thinks she's going to get caught, but she doesn't have much motive for shenanigans...yet. (She's reasonably ethical in conduct if not character, since she doesn't want to get a reputation worse than the one she already has.)
